Areola Tattoo

How This Service Can Help

This application of tattooing can be used to give back a more natural appearance to those who have undergone a mastectomy restoration where the areola has been partially or completely removed. This can help cancer survivors regain a level of confidence.

It is also helpful to other surgical patients who want to cover up scarring or post operative blemishes.

It can also be used for anyone who would prefer a more symmetrical areola.

Recovering Your Natural Look

Many women use this procedure as the final step in breast reconstruction after the surgical site has fully healed.

Carolyn has helped many breast cancer survivors and individuals after mastectomy or breast reconstruction. As a leading permanent makeup professional Carolyn can provide a more original look that helps recover confidence and goes beyond cosmetic enhancement.

Blending in With Your Skin

Carolyn’s wide experience in all types of skin tones and textures and highly detailed work is used to tailor an appearance that best matches your skin.

Once completed, the breast will look more natural than the surgery itself usually provides.

How Long After Surgery?

Plastic surgeons generally recommend waiting for a period of at least four months after breast reconstruction surgery to have nipple reconstruction or nipple tattoos. This is to provide time for your breasts to heal and settle into a final position. It is also recommended to wait until you’re fully satisfied with the rest of your reconstruction.

ABOUT TOUCHUPS/REFRESHERS

Fact: Eyebrows require more maintenance than Eyes or Lips Procedures. True.

Eyebrow Touchup/Refresher appointments are essential and highly recommended every 18 to 24 months™ for maintenance of the actual "Eyebrow Color," otherwise, after this time frame, the pigment is breaking down and absorbing into the body, leaving behind only an undertone, not the actual color of eyebrow pigment.   How soon a client needs to come in to have their Eyebrows touched up is strictly individual, and some clients may even need to come in sooner due to thyroid conditions, sun exposure, fair skin (Fitzpatrick 1, 2), and more. I'm seeing my darker skin clients around 24 to 36 months™ for their touchups as their skin has more melanin, and eyebrow pigment appears to fade more slowly than my lighter skin clients. Again, this is also an individual case.

A common rule of thumb is when you start reaching for your eyebrow pencil to add color to your fading permanent makeup; this is the perfect indication that it is time to schedule your touchup appointment. By prolonging this appointment, you a) allow the pigment to continue to fade more, and b) in some cases, the pigment will be gone, but leave a colorant behind (orange, red, gray) of the pigment's undertone which over time, really doesn't appear to fade, or takes years to fade. In these cases, a color correction and a new set of eyebrows must be performed. Clients have mistaken this, "Oh, but my brows have lasted 10 years!" No, the undertone of the pigment is visible enough for you to follow with your brow pencil, but the pigment has been gone for quite some time. Lastly, c) the pigment is gone but faded evenly to being very light. Clients don't consider that when the anesthetic is applied, it "blanches" out the skin (and any permanent makeup). If your existing permanent makeup is over five years or more, prepare for your technician to have to "pre-draw" your eyebrows. The anesthetic will blanch any existing eyebrows you have. Many clients come in with the mindset, "If I can see it, she can see it." WRONG. The work I must perform to bring these eyebrows back up to new is twice the work of a standard touchup! Plan on being charged for a New Set of Eyebrows. Why? Because I have to do the same amount of work as New Eyebrows versus one, two, or three-year touchups. I hope I have clarified this better.

Please do not wait this long. The longer you wait, the more work and expertise will be required to return your eyebrows to their optimal appearance. Depending on the severity of the color correction needed, these may be completed in one to two appointments. Color Corrections are for Master Technicians only and are not complementary services. There are charges for the extra time and expertise that goes into the work. Thank you for understanding.

Of all of the permanent makeup procedures, eyebrows fade faster in comparison. Here are some factors that can affect how the pigment will last in the skin: Fairer-colored skin, sunlight exposure, skin treatments, oily versus dry skin, clients on medications who exercise a lot, have low thyroid, etc., will tend to fade quicker.

Note: Touchups/Refreshers are based on a simple single session of that same technique and do not include any modifications to the shape or color corrections. Please expect an additional charge for the time and work involved if requested or required.

50% of your procedural success will be based on what you do or don't do after leaving my office. Please follow ALL Aftercare Instructions.

NOTE: If you have had previous Micro-blading work completed by another technician due to the high rate of observed scar tissue caused by amateur work (microbladers), I need you to understand and take full responsibility for any issues relating to color retention. Those with previous Microblading work will often need additional sessions to achieve the desired results. Thank you for understanding.

Color Correction

Any needed correction or rebalance of faded color is typically found in eyebrows after a few years. The most typical colors are: are salmon, violet, gray, and red.  Periodically, but rarely, we see green. The more dense and darker color can take approximately two, and sometimes three sessions (not typical) to rebalance.  If they are super dense, some removal will be recommended prior.  Color corrections are NOT permanent fixes of old remaining colors!    Do expect to return as soon as a hint of the undesirable color begins to reappear.  This will become less frequent in time once a balanced color is implanted into the skin.

Shape Modification

Shape modification is required/needed typically when eyebrows have been tattooed asymmetrically in a past procedure by a technician with less experience.  Extra work, time and expertise will be spent in given, if at all possible, to that client the give the look of a balanced and properly placed eyebrow.

Clients need to understand that this process may easily require two visits and this type of work should only be performed by an experienced professional with years of experience.

Lightening of Color

In some cases, color has to be lightened enough in order for the correct color to be implanted. A lightening/removal process procedure will  be required first.  The number of sessions needed vary with each client and their situation.  Each lightening process will need eight to twelve weeks between each session to allow the skin to heal properly. I do not lighten to “removal.”  I lighten enough to be able to do a new and improved procedure over the old work. This is not a process which can be rushed and should only be performed by an experienced professional with years of experience.

*Price of Lightening does not include new tattoo work afterwards.

Product Guarantee

These products are only sold through a GlymedPlus Trained Professional.

Purchasing these products on Amazon will not guarantee you the same results.  Why?  A Glymed Trained Professionals is forbidden to sell on Amazon, therefore you are risking getting a fake "Made in China," and you have no idea what's in it.  Or you are purchasing a product which is expired and too old to be on our shelves.  You may save a few dollars but you will not be getting the quality, results, standards, and safety which Glymed Plus and it's professionals demand.  You make the choice:  Authentic or fake.  I will not do procedures on clients who have purchased on Amazon or an online store.
